Crowdfunding University

First time running an equity crowdfunding campaign? Want to make it a success? Well pack your lunch cos it’s back to the books.

Background

We've helped over 30 organisations run successful equity crowdfunding campaigns in New Zealand - and now we're launching in Australia.

While every company is different, there are a lot of common areas where they need guidance and support. With our experience, and feedback from our crowd of campaigners, we've pulled together the CrowdfundingU programme to help organisations crowdfund.

Whether you’re a company wanting to raise a million dollars and make a media splash or just want to do a private friends & family round CrowdfundingU can help ready your business to more effectively communicate what you’re up to.

The programme

There are two versions of the programme:

  1. Small campaigns: this is a two session course covering your plan and your pitch. You will learn the basics needed to run a successful equity campaign.

  2. Large campaigns (aiming to raise over AU $100,000): this is a six session programme that works with you and your team to prepare a comprehensive capital raising plan.

Programme

  1. Prepare - in this session we’ll run through how equity crowdfunding works, best practice, lessons from campaigns that didn’t work, run through your team (and what you need), and who your crowd is.

  2. Plan - this session is all about your Comms Plan - how will you get out to your crowd? What are your key messages? Who are your main audiences? What is the timeline from now til launch and after?

  3. Pitch - now that you have a plan to communicate out, you need to prepare your pitch! Your offer document will be the main document all investors see and read, and we’ll run you through what needs to be included, review existing documents, and start helping you write it.

  4. Pitch Kitchen - this session is your chance to get feedback from your crowd - what do they think about your pitch? What resonates? What’s confusing? You’ll have a mix of people you know (and don’t) in the room.

  5. Promo - in this session we’ll run through the feedback from the Pitch Kitchen. We’ll also make sure your’re ready to create their pitch video, social media posts / imagery, have a plan around the launch events, and feeling ready to hit go.

  6. Finish - this session will make sure everything is tidied up, and the campaign is ready to launch. The content will depend on the areas that the company needs the help (offer document, video, comms, or more).

Cost

The programme costs AU$750 + GST for campaigns aiming to raise under AU$100,000, and AU$3,000 + GST for campaigns aiming to raise over AU$100,000. If this is your first time crowdfunding, you’ll be required to run through this course before running your campaign.

There may be additional costs to launching and running your campaign after CrowdfundingU which may include: legal, accounting, design and events.
